This is the ring road that was built around the island. The total cost of building the airstrip and the road was $5.5 million. It took 9 months to build the road and airstrip and progressed at about 30 feet per day. 80 tons of explosives were used to construct the road and runway (3 container loads of explosives). The ring road is approximately 4 miles long.
